First of All........ Alpha

First Greek Lettered Organization created with dual purpose of service/fellowship. (1907)

All other Early Greek organizations were created for the purpose of its members. 

First #D9 Black Greek Lettered Organization organized & accepted on an HBCU campus. (1907)

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc was approved by the administration in November 1907.

First Divine Nine organization  to create a probate show. (1908)

President Slowe introduced the organization publicly to the campus in 1908.

First Divine Nine organization  to create a scholarship. (1913)

First AA sorority to seek expansion (1909) 

A.K.A was able to form new members at other universities, chapter viability proved to be much more of a challenge. 

First AA sorority to seek expansion (1910) &  incorporate nationally. (1913)

First AA sorority organized & accepted on an PWI campus. (1913)

A.K.A sought many expansion efforts from 1909  and found its permanent placement in 1912 with the organization of Beta. Beta chartered October 8, 1913.

First Greek Letter organization in the country to be a full life member of the NAACP (1938 -1939)

First #D9 with an International Headquarters

1913: Consolidated all chapters & Operations

1949: Publicly available International Headquarters.

1952: Full purchase of Headquarters
